A Message from Our CEO: What to Expect from VPO in 2026

VPO CEO Laura shares why owner-first construction software matters and what to expect in 2026, including the new Building Connections podcast.

As I start my 28th year in the construction industry, I've been reflecting on why we created VPO in the first place.

Back then, the technology landscape was dominated by complex software like Primavera—built to manage large, complicated projects one at a time. When cloud technology came along, it opened up new possibilities for collaboration, but the software platforms remained too complex. I knew there had to be a better way.

That conviction led to VPO. And as we head into 2026, I want to share with you why our commitment to that vision matters more than ever.

Starting with the Owner

We've always believed something that the rest of the industry is just now starting to figure out: if you're going to truly improve how construction projects are managed, you have to start with the owner.

Why? Because owners have the most at stake.

You're the ones responsible for the outcome, the budget, the timeline, the stakeholders. And yet, for decades, the industry has focused on giving designers and contractors better software while expecting owners to make do with tools that were never built for how you actually work.

Now, companies like Procore who've saturated the general contractor market are looking at owners as the "untapped opportunity."

But here's the problem: as a software company, you can’t just use the same platform for a different audience.

Owners need a completely different approach. You're not managing one project at a time—you're managing portfolios. You're not just tracking tasks—you're coordinating multiple contractors, maintaining stakeholder transparency, and ensuring every dollar is accountable. That requires software built from the ground up for your reality.

That's what VPO has always been. Owner-first isn't a marketing pivot for us—it's our foundation.

What You Can Expect from VPO in 2026

This year, we're doubling down on that commitment in three key ways:

1. Practical, Relevant Content

We're committed to bringing you resources you can actually use—not just marketing fluff. You'll see webinars featuring real-world insights, blog posts that address your actual challenges, and content that helps you do your job better.

2. Building Connections Podcast

I'm particularly excited to launch "Building Connections," a podcast where we'll have genuine conversations with people like you. Project managers, owners, and industry leaders will share their stories, lessons learned, and what's really working in the field. No scripted interviews or corporate speak—just real talk about real projects.

3. Supporting the Owner Ecosystem

We're celebrating and supporting the entire ecosystem that serves owners—including the construction management firms who partner with you to deliver successful projects. As Vice President of the Construction Management Association of America's local chapter, I see firsthand the dedication these professionals bring to your projects. We're here to support those partnerships because when your CM succeeds, you succeed.

An Invitation to Connect

I want to be clear about something: VPO isn't just a software company. We're your partner in project success.

After nearly three decades of working alongside hundreds of construction professionals, I've learned that the best solutions come from listening, learning, and collaborating—not from assuming we have all the answers.

So, I'm inviting you into a conversation:

  • Engage with our content and tell us what resonates
  • Share your project stories and challenges
  • Join the conversation—whether that's attending a webinar, listening to the podcast, or simply reaching out

If something in this message or our newsletter resonates with you, I'd love to hear from you. Let's build something better together.

Here's to building better projects together in 2026.
